After 43+ years as an ANA member, life took me past the ANA HQ and so I arranged my schedule to visit (2155.9 miles total).

I had a great time. Two things stand out.

The Bass collection is simply awesome. And the video system allows you to see enlargements of both the visible side and the other side. And see other items in the collection not on display.

Secondly, the shipwreck exhibit is very well done. There is enough material on display to illustrate the concepts without being an endless row of "stuff" with tiny labels. The explanatory signage is very well done too.

The other exhibits were fun, I'm just sad that it was mid-week and the mini-mint wasn't in operation.

The Money Museum, 818 N. Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you visit the ANA Museum, make sure you step into the Library- that is where the $100,000 Gold Certificates are on display. Hallenbeck Coin Gallery is the closest shop, just a couple blocks away.

Pity the ANA Museum is not in NY or LA, where more international visitors could access it, perhaps on a stopover.

Smithsonian, Bibliotheque Nationale, Hermitage and British Museum all have huge numismatic collections, and are also are centers for scholarstic numismatic study.

The museum is a great place to visit, the Bass collection especially. However, going into the library is time warping. When I think I've been in there 30 minutes it's actually been several hours.
