I am new to the Numistic(sp?) World. I am a coin collector/hoarder. Currently sorted by type. Now learning about the green rot on my pennies/cents...ugh. So much work to do...

Must now roll or put in tubes? Cardboard boxes under my bed are a NO I guess.

but....

I like finding silver coins and very old coins in my change. I have been saving coins for a long time and have finally decided to educate myself on this hobby.

I also have been saving foreign coins and bills. Friends (and customers) always gift me random foreign coins or notes (whether of value or not?) just because I like collecting foreign currency for their beauty or uniqueness.

My fist bank note I saved from the 5th grade with some propaganda. I put these in an envelope and wrote on it SAVE. Haha. Still have them. Its a bank note with Saddam Hussein and a Turkish Lira. I can't believe that through all my moves and packing I always managed to put this envelope somewhere secure and have hung on to it for a long time.

I have been a waitress and barista most my young life so I've had a chance to save some interesting(to me) change. I have wheat pennies, silver dimes, and quarters.

My oldest coin is a 1924 Peru Centavos. My strangest are these UN coins that were a gift. I have a few of them.

My favorite coin is a P over Monticello War Nickel.

I hope to learn a lot and especially learn how to properly sort and store my circulated coins.

to CCF and and being a Numismatist!

Yes, moisture can be a problem in the Pacific North Wet. People here will have good suggestions for storage, between the Floridians, the Gulf Coast and other PNW folk - just ask, maybe a specific question in the main forum "Need ideas for inexpensive dry storage" or some such.
