Inside the circle of the 6 looks like it could be doubling. I appreciate and welcome your feedback.

Hi MS - your picture is a bit out of focus, but it looks like a deteriorated die. This was pretty common for the period as the dies were worked pretty hard; 1962 especially so. Take a few more pictures of the date and the adjacent devices. Folks here will help you dial in. Good luck on the hunt!!

This is a DIFFERENT 1964 nickel. It also has Die Deterioration in the circle of the 6. The 4 is doubled on the bottom though I believe. What does everyone think? Thanks

Very heavy die wear. Not the tail on the "4" and the tops of the motto and LIBERTY?

MS - regarding your second specimen, if you go to Brian's Variety Coins you'll see proof specimens with a similar condition. I've found a couple specimens like yours over the year, but I've attributed that to Die Deterioration.

Machine Doubling can alter outside and inside devices, but always reduces the size of the devices.
