Easy to fake a speared bud. Depends on what extra value can be obtained by deception, considering the grade of this one.

I agree, probably little or no extra value at this grade. I am just interested in it because of the CSA factor. So does it look like a speared bud to you? I'll probably take the chance anyway.

Yes, I do think it is. I just snagged one at a show, myself, a G-6. I've long liked these Confederate die varieties, but I'll not bid against you! Here's a WB-102, the most desirable variety, that I cherry-picked in a mid-west auction, a few years ago. My pics don't do it justice. The die break to the bridge of the nose is quite prominent with coin-in-hand. It's the best one I've found to date ...

Well, apparently I had no idea what that coin was worth. Thought it might be a WB-102, but in that condition, probably AG03 details Oh well, live and learn.

I think it's a WB-104, simply the speared bud. Personally, I think the $89 was a fair price for a coin that will slab as a Confederate die. I do foresee a brighter financial future for these issues as more folks learn to attach the history.

OK, I thought I saw a bump on the bridge of the nose that could have been a piece of the die crack.
