I sometime decide to put together a sub set of a collection and this time I decided to put together a set of certified Ike dollars of the all the silver Ike dollars. I wanted these in both the MS grade and Proof grade. I set a goal to finish the set by the end of the year and last night I bought the last coin out of the 10 that comprise the set. I purchased a PCGS MS 67 1974-S Ike dollar.

Looks like a nice one, and congrats on completing the set. You cannot beat the Ike set for its affordability, ease of completion, and historic appeal of the moon landing being commemorated on such large coins.

I like the fact the a high MS Ike is affordable for the everyday Joe like me with a limited budget.

Also, I hope that this next subject is permissible and considered as going in the same grain with the topic of the thread.

I have heard that certain varieties exist for the Ikes and that some of them are very attractive in terms of their potential $ appreciation. Where would be the best place to drill down onto the specifics of this type of subject matter: circulated, MS and proofs etc.

There are certain Ike dollars that are rare and worth more in high grade than the regular coins issued for a specific release and they are not in the proofs but in the Mint State coins.
According to the December Coin World Values the 1971 in MS 66 is worth $1600, The 1972 in High Relief earth in MS 65 is worth $1250, the 1972 in the low relief earth is worth $550 in MS65 and $7500 in MS66,and basically any Clad Ike dollar certified in MS 66 is worth way more than the Silver Ike's in MS67.
