That's one heck of an error note coinfrog. A 1917 legal tender with an 1899 silver certificate reverse

Both nice notes and the serial number 5 legal tender

Sorry, just realized that this thread is only for coins purchased, not supplies.

Any acquisitions made in 2015 that you are proud of, we want to see.

Next year I'll make sure to include collecting supplies to the opening post and I should also probably add numismatic literature to the list as well.

I would also like to add that it took me FOREVER to find one. I am very happy with the one I picked though.

davec13 - I thought I had deleted that lousy B/E pic. It's really a super note.

Here are my favorites (so far). I just got into coin collecting this year...

I'm still going back and forth about whether I should sell them, because they were a fair amount of money (for a college student), but I really love them, and they are definitely my favorites.

I finally got one of these for my Brit India type set.

Well, all you need to do is get a college degree, work for 20+ years, get married to a woman who also has a college degree and has been working for 20+ years and then have a close relative die and leave you an inheritance. Nothing to it, really...

I know this doesn't look like much but until late last year it was believed that only one of this issuer and series existed. 4 more were found including this one. However there are 2 types of font for the issue nd this is the only one known with a block font!

I have made a few good and fortunate purchases in 2015. For example, an 1878 CC half Dollar (NGC EF45), a coin which I had wanted for many years, or an 1803 draped bust cent and a coronet 1823 N-2 cent in very nice condition.
However, by far the most significant is this 1798 large cent. I liked it when I saw it, but only really became aware of its significance once I had it in hand. It is (in my opinion) at the very top of the condition census for the variety. As a variety it is an R-4 and therefore scarce, but in this condition it is a major rarity. The stuff that gets a copper collectors heart racing.
