I find a Buffalo every 108 rolls based on my stats so far. So just over 2 boxes.

I find War Nickels every 73 rolls so far. Those stats were boosted by two boxes in a row with 4 War Nickels each.

Haven't done a box in a couple of weeks now, so I'll probably pick up one today/tomorrow.

It's all about volume and averages with buffs and War Nickels. Recently I've had a buff every other box and a War Nickel in every box. I'm sure that won't continue and there were times earlier in the year when I didn't have a buff for 5 or 6 boxes in a row.

I think the average must be a buff every two boxes and a war just slightly less common than 1 a box. I've searched only 600 rolls and that's about what I'm at. My last box had 5 wars in it so it's skewed the results to 1 war every 41.43 rolls but I think it'll even out to 1 war every 50 something rolls over time.

Oh and nice doubled die!

Welcome to the nickel searching thread Payton .... pull up a stool and have some fun.

You can find detailed find rate statistics for all USA circulated nickels in my 180,000 coin update:

https://goccf.com/t/64501

Since then ...... I have had the joy to find 5 Buffalo in bank rolls ..... you can read on this page my rare experience of finding 3 Buffalo in one String & Sons roll.

Soooo .... it's all about volume and passion .... keep on searching ..... your time after 20 boxes is coming up.

What a weekend! Friday evening I found the 1939 Doubled Die Reverse, yesterday I pulled a 43-D War Nickel...and today I found the BIG DADDY the 1950-D!

I don't think I could have asked for more in my 1950-D...I love the wood grained nickels, and it has a little bit of a lamination issue on the reverse, but not distracting. It's a late state die, but it's all mine! At last...took about 68,600 nickels.

Now back at it to see if I can find that elusive 1955 that will complete my set!

Yahoo!! Congratulations DylansDad!

What a great weekend you have had nickel searching ,,,,, and that beauty of a 50-D caps it off just right.

I know your 1955 Philly mint is coming your way soon enough ..... looking forward to your report of a completed roll-find circulation strike collection.
