I got this one day last week. When cashiers stick things like this in your hand, how are you supposed to keep from adding nickels to your penny coin roll hunting? I ask you, how?

Must avoid adding nickels... must avoid adding nickels... <--(has "the chant" ever worked for anybody?)

Sweet 38S! Thats an awesome find! And by the way, ignore "the chant", just add them to your pickup along with pennies!

Did my first box of nickels in a while.

War - 1942P

26 other pre-1959's

First proof - 1979S, looks like it was broken out yesterday.

4 - 2009P's.

1 Canadian - 1982.

Didn't fill any holes, but added silver. I always love finding silver.

first ever box of nickels until now just doing 10 or 20 dollars of CWR's
21 pre 60 nickels
NO silver :(
did get a hole filler tho 1946 S so I'm just as pleased.
gonna try boxes like I did this time (1 dime, 1 nickel, 1 penny) maybe 2 more times to see if my numbers go to where they were when I was doing CWR's if they stay lower gonna go back. But it sure was fun to rip through 100 bucks of nickels :)

Did my first box in a while this weekend. Not many pre-60, only 14. But did get on silver, a 43-P, and filled a monster hole with a 1938-S. It's actually the first 1938 from any mint I've pulled out of the 14 boxes I've searched. I was beginning to think those holes would never get filled.

Found this guy in a box last week. Pretty boring box except for a Cud and this hideous buffalo. It's the second oldest I've found, but the oldest and ugliest with a full date (hard to make out in the pic but it's definitely 1917).

I have been posting in these forums for a couple of months now, but mainly in the currency section which in itself is kind of ironic given the circumstances.

I read this forum and it made me smile (well some of the pages). You all do for fun what I do for a living.

For the last 12 years I have been required to search through roughly 110 million nickels... by hand. I knew nothing about them at first so they didn't interest me at all. Then as I started to become aware of things I naturally began to save certain ones.

Truth be known I don't have the time to sort through them to see what I can find so that hinders my collection considerably. Instead it's more dump and weigh and "oh look there's a buffalo" sort of relationship I have with the coin. Still I have managed to start a fair collection.

There are some coins (notably a Henning nickel) that elude me, and I doubt I will ever find, but I will not give up the search and am enlightened that there are others out there who do the same.

Thanks for making my day :)

What manner of business forces you to search 9 million nickels a year?!?!?
You must either work for a cash logistics company, or be involved with the fed!
