18,000 rolls. Wow. I'm at 1132 rolls - guess I've got pretty far to go to catch up. 2 of my last 3 boxes were solid 2010 (one each of P & D), but I did manage to pull this guy out of the "real" box:

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!
The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

1938-S - and while it looks like someone took a hatchet to poor TJ's head, it's my first key so I'm keeping it. 10 holes left (11 if you count 2009-D).

It's pretty sad that we let this thread fall to the bottom of page 2 the last week or two!

Had a good "Coin-o-Rama" with HalfCrazy last night...wives were out of town so we set out to attack 4 boxes of nickels, we only got through 2 though. We just had to chuckle when he pulled that 43-D, thinking we had to let Nickelsearcher know he should really come search some rolls with me because those 43-D's are like 64's here.

My last 4 boxes have been pretty decent:
20 pre-60's, including a 39 and a dateless Buffalo
34 pre-60's, including a 39, 39-S and a 38-S and a 43-P War
26 pre-60's, including 3-39 and a 45-S War
29 pre-60's, including 2-39

Still waiting on my 1955 to complete my set. Search on!

Arrrgh ...... you folks are just killing me with all those 43-D!

I'm just shy of 5,000 rolls searched ...... and right here on this page are the last 2 coins I need ....... another 43-D by DylansDad and that hatchet-head 38-S by RollHunter.

Great finds folks ....... now how about sending a few my way?

Sincere Congrats to CND for hitting that 18,000 roll mark ...... that is a ton of perseverance to get there.

Here is my question, how many of those coins have passed through your hands more than once?

Not many - my find rate remains pretty constant and I've never gotten a "skunk" box. Halves are a different story, but there are a lot less of them.

I did a N.F. String & Sons box last night and had 2 War Nickels, an '85 and '87 Canadian. Nothing much else of note. That brings me up to a grand total of 20 War Nickels found! I need 7 more to fill the folder...

Nickelsearcher, I am still stuck at the same place you are, missing the 38S and 43D. I guess the bright side is we know they are still "out there",we just need to find them. On the good news side,I just pulled an AU 42S,which replaced a really battered one in my collection and a nice 45S along with a 1929 Buffalo. Even though I am not finding what I need I am finding good stuff. On a sad note, I had a box of nickels and a box of pennies stolen out of my car 2 nights ago. It was partly my own fault but I was really bummed. I just retired and losing $125 bucks really made me angry.

Bad news about the stolen coins hockingzig ..... I suppose the only recourse you have about that it to soldier on.

Amazing that we are both stuck at the same place ...... I just passed through 198,400 nickels searched ..... who knows when the last two might show up?

Therein lies the great joy of roll searching ...... the very next roll I open might contain one (or even both) of them ..... such is the nature of our collective treasure hunt passion.

I commend to all the humble nickel .... great fun indeed.

This thread convinced me to start keeping track of all my roll searching finds. I currently just go through cents and nickels, and I have to admit I really like doing the nickels better. I even started a blog so I can share with everyone what I find. I know, kinda geeky, but I'm used to that.

got a dateless buffalo tonight and 32 pre 60 TJ's from my third ever box. My second doesn't really count as it was mainly 2010's....I did manage to pull 2 blank planchets from that box though. Nickels are probably the fastest box I go through, and maybe the most fun too

Found this in the box I went through today...

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

The nicest 38 I've come across in the many boxes I've gone through, all the ones I usually find are mucho faded.

Have yet to find a buffalo... Hopefully it's in one of the boxes I've got put aside.

Had another find just now that I had to include!

- 2 rolls into the next box I find this gem...
