So far I have searched about $1,000 in nickels and have quite a few prior 1960 of which many are in good shape. I have kept many in good shape and finally received the collector books I will fill them with. I ordered 2 more before starting to fill the books so when seperating the dates I can do 4 books all together. Since I have found so many Jeffersons of all dates, I decided to make 4 collector books instead of the 1 I was going to complete. The last box I just checked had 3 War Nickels, no buffalo and about 50 prior 1960. The 2 previous boxes no silver, no buffalo (they were the first 2 boxes with none!) Anyway I guess that first roll I checked with a silver nickel lead to all this! Even with silver going down, 3 nickels of it are much more than the interest I could collect on $100 even for a year!

ONe thing to do is Keep the nickels, one of the last real money we have and at least a nickel has more than it's worth in metal

Today was my first search in several weeks. I searched through $100 and while I didn't find any War Nickels or Buffaloes, I did find a 1946-S, something I haven't found in circulation before. I also found six Canadian nickels.

Another box, no silver or buffalo, silver seems to be getting rarer. I usually find 2-3 per box.

2-3 War Nickels a box is a pretty high find ratio. I've been through over 3000 rolls and I average a War Nickel every 55 rolls and a buffalo every 235 (or so my spread sheet tells me).

I just finished a pretty good box: 1942d (x3), 1943d, 1945s, 1949s, 1950, 1990d (no FS), and my first 2011p. I am over 7000 rolls in and still no 1950d.

Wonderful finds and updates! ... a few comments based on the current page and I offer my sincere apology for any prior posts that I have missed ... Quote: Another box, no silver or buffalo, silver seems to be getting rarer. I usually find 2-3 per box. You must live in a special place! In my searches (243,200 coins ... 6080 rolls) I find a War Silver on average every 71.5 rolls ... much less than 1 per 50 roll box. Quote: 1888 Victory Nickel! Congratulations on the great find. BTW ... most of us call these Liberty V nickels .... I have found exactly 3 in my years of roll searching ... an average of 1 find every 2027 rolls. Great pull indeed. You are ahead of me in total rolls searched ... and I found my 1950-D early on. Still need two coins for my complete circulation strike set (38-S and 43-D) .... what are you lacking? Quote: what are you lacking? I am only missing the 50d. I've found at least three of all the rest so I'm hoping my next roll has three 50d so I can just finish off those sets. That will probably happen right...
