Tempuss: the 1950 D nickel is not the most expensive, but it is very rare to find in circulation. It had the lowest mintage of any Jefferson nickel with only 2,630,030 made. many people search thousands of nickels and have not found one, so you having found 2 already is really incredible. it is a coin over 60 years old and it had a low mintage, both of these things make it a hard coin to find. congrats on getting two of them by the way. |

Thanks for the help. Wow, findings like this is what its all about I guess. Even if its not worth that much its still a rush. Really glad I got into this hobby and I can't wait to share my other finds and to see what others have found.

Okay so I decided to go hardcore today and pick up 2 boxes. 1 brinks, and 1 String, and was quite pleased with the outcome. First off, I'd like to mention that I found my first Liberty nickel only 3 rolls in: a 1911 in problem-free VG! Dancing fruit time!     Also pulled some good Jeffersons like an AU 1948S and 1958, some silver (1942S, 1945S), and a 1925 Buffalo that redefines the meaning of ugly.  I didn't know what to think when I pulled 2 Mexican 1 peso coins (1993, 2000) from the String box, except that they're ugly bi-metallic coins. Finally, I got a surprising 4 Canadians from the two boxes (1985, (2)1990, 1993) surprising because down here in Texas, Canadian nickels are about as rare as buffalos. |

post pictures of the Liberty nickel if you get a chance! also, congrats on the nice finds. and its funny that I live in san diego, about 45 minute drive from mexico, but I get way more canadians than mexicans in my boxes. |

Today's finds: two buffalo's, a 1924 and a 1928, dates both visible but g-4 overall.
NO silver (I think for the first time)!
5 hole fillers! (1940's-1950's) My Jeff book is not as full as Id like it too be. I have most of everything save the infuriating 1950-D, and 1938's and 1939 S and D also a couple of the 50's

Tonight at work I asked our cantine clerk if I could go through the change in his register. I was happy to find a 1955D. Not a huge find, but a good hole filler for my collection.

Eight rolls today, found a few keepers for the 7113. Including a pretty good 1965. Nothing earlier than a 1963.

That 1938s from a few pages back is beyond belief! Remarkable coin!
Tempuss, I have been through over 20000 rolls and have only found 2 1950d. When this coin was released the non-collecting public had knowledge of it's scarcity, and as a result the vast majority of them were pulled from circulation. It's one of the few coins that lower grade examples are much harder to find than high grade and uncirculated ones.

I stopped at a bank today to grab a couple rolls on my way home and was surprised when I was told the bank was cracking down on giving out any rolls at all to customers, period. This was at a Beneficial bank.

Wally - I think it is time to change banks. I went into a Beneficial a couple of times (not an account holder) and they were just plain nasty.

Probably because they are dumping them back at the same bank! All banks pay fees for handling coin so if people take rolls,search through them,then take them back to the same bank that doubles their handling costs. On a different note,I picked up 10 CWR's today and got a 55 P,54 S, and a really great 1960.
