I just cashed in the nickels from my last box at the bank. The teller knows that I go through nickels so when she gave me my change she looked all through her drawer for stuff to give to me! The only thing she found was a '47 plain, so I took it. I was sooo happy she was kind enough to do that for me; she has expressed an interest in my collecting. Says I might have started her off on the hobby, too. I wish there were more tellers like her!

I have beem lurking around here for awhile and I have to admit that I have never searched a roll of nickels. I'm pretty new at this but I have been hanging onto old coins for years.

My husband recently found a Cool Whip tub full of nickels including 3 rolls -- but I can't bring myself to open the rolls because the wrapping paper says "Welcome to Reno". I have no idea how old those rolls are but they have to be at least 10 years old -- maybe 20.

I will probably leave those rolls alone for years to come -- but you guys are making me want to go to the bank and buy rolls.

Yes go to the bank and get nickels. Probably the only coin that hasn't been searched through yet since the metal composition has really never changed (except war silver). it most likely will soon since the intrinsic metal value is more than face value and the mint is looking to change composition. I actually keep the searched and re wrapped nickels juust in case! I feel once the composition changes they could become more valuable

ugg still stuck at 5 holes left after this box
many 40's and 50's but no silver or Buffalo nickels
I did search through my dansco and pull some of the coins that weren't quite as nice as I wanted and replaced them with better ones I found in the box
until next time

ahh I forgot to mention, I was putting away my roll finds from this previous box and have a 1969 S with mirror like finish
It really looks like a proof, but I thought only special mint sets were released in this year. Is that true, or could it really be a proof
