The Goal: 25,000 Rolls Of Nickels (All Searchers Welcome!)

domagku and robbudo, note that some banks don't take rolled change, such as the BoA branches in my area (Austin, TX). Yes, I learned this one from experience... unfortunately. Imagine the look on my face when they told me I had to dump the 300 rolls I had just rolled the night before...oy...

Anyway, I just finished up my 3rd box of nickels last night and ended up with 4 hole fillers, 1 silver (44D, a dupe unfortunately) and a 1986 Canadian nickel. And of course I would so much rather search through nickels than write out Christmas cards, but they're not going to write themselves as the saying goes, so I better hold off on buying a 4th box. For a while. Or the 5th, rather. The 4th is already in my office :)

I got myself a 2009D, which is only my second one.

Yes, 10 boxes ahead maybe, but still have the same number of holes to fill. So you can beat me easily.

I bought 100 bucks of CHR Nickels today at a local credit union, the teller said that some people had brought in the coins from donations part of the school fundraising.
I found ALOT of pre 60 nickels, haven't looked over any key dates, no silver ones at all, no buffalos (was looking forward to seeing one) :)
Oh, and a 1940 Canadian Penny :)

robbudo - the BoA braches in Austin, TX only take loose change. They dump the change into heavy-duty plastic bags and send them off to a counting facility somewhere (San Antonio maybe) and then a few days later you see a "Counter Credit" on your statement.

So when I brought my 300 or so rolls of nicely rolled change, they handed me a bag, pointed to a chair and I had to bust open each and every one of those 300 rolls I had so nicely counted out and packaged up. Good times. I was a bit miffed that day (though it /was/ rather amusing), but it generally makes it much easier... I don't have to roll anything, just throw the rejects into the cardboard box that the rolls came out of and then take them to the bank.

Nickels are the best coins to search because for the most part not gone through. I love finding the War Nickel and buffalo!

The verdict is in, and it's a 1928D. Not great, but still a hole filler.
