By the way, anyone else have an easy time getting the 1951 s? It should be harder to get but it is my 11th one. In comparison, I only have 10 2009 p nickels. Strange how many of that low mintage date I get.

I am curious about something: Why do we save all these older Jefferson nickels? Is it because, due to their age, they are likely to have some numismatic value once the nickel has the metal changed in it? Or are there other reasons?

I save the pre-1960 nickels just because I don't find many of them in rolls. Only one 2009-P found in roll searching here...I save those too!

murrrellington,

My son and I have found 20 of the 1951s and 20 of the 1955p. It's the rare five that we have such a hard time getting. We have only found a total of 8 coins from the rare five.

I picked up $20 in nickels at a PNC inside Giant, and didn't get much:

1948p
1949p
1951s (Looks like you're not the only one who gets 1951s nickels, Murrelington)

I did my weekly box. I got three silver in semi-good condition. 1943P, 1944P, 1945P. I already had those in my folder, but they were obviously welcomed! I didn't find any Buffalo nickels, but I did find a handful of pre-1960s and a couple hole fillers. This was my best box in terms of silver, I believe.

Haven't really found much from my last 4 boxes, aside from the usual 10-15 common pre-60's. Just a 1943P and 1944P and that's about all.

We got a "box" fro one of our bankstoday. I put box in quotes because it was 100 bucks of rolls, but not from a solid box. Several Brinks rolls, some other bank rolls and some CWR. All of the wars we found were from the CWRs. So we found a good number of 40 and 50s. 43Sx3, 43P and 44D.

Actually, it was 5 War Nickels in about 12 CWRs. And a ton of 30s-50s. I had more fun searching the CWRs than the BWRs.
