I got myself a nickel album and am trying to fill it up. In addition, I save every nickel with a mintage less than 10 Million, as well as 1942-45 (silver) and put them in rolls by date. I keep all foreign coins (except Canadian - but I keep the pre 1982 Canadians because they are 100% nickel). You should find a Buffalo nickel every 3 boxes, although half will be dateless. I look for errors (die cracks, misaligned dies, rotated reverses, Cuds) on EVERY coin. I also look for the elusive 1964 D/D, 1990D no FG, 1988P no FG, and 1970 obverse die clash. does anyone look for anything else? |

Shavill,just so you know,the War Nickels are only 35% silver,not 90% like other US silver coins. |

haha, I wish they were 90% silver! actually, no I don't. If they were 90% silver, everyone would be searching nickels instead of dimes and halves.

Other than that I keep all foreign I find, including all canadian (I find ALOT). I live close enough to Canada that I can justify a trip up there and exchange it. Plus I could go fishing while there, two birds one stone. You can't edge search nickels like you do dimes, unless you want to find coins that have been in the dirt for a long time (they'll be brown) and a few of the silver War Nickels. |

Nice finds, guys! I can finally live up to my username!! I just finished my first box of nickels and 1939 x2 1941 P&S 1942-P first War Nickel!! 1943-P War Nickel! 1946-D 1948 -Px2, -D 1949- P D S 1952 P x2 1953-D 1955-P 1957 P D 1958-D 1959 P Dx2 1960 Proof 1964 so nice I kept it for my dansco 1968-D needed for dansco 1995-D "v" counterstamp 1980-P edge destroyed 2009-D 19? This looks to be a type of error, it is really thin and the edge is rounded. When I get a decent pic ill post it in the errors and varieties forum. |

murrellington, your box 82 is much better than my box 74. Only that Russian coin above, 2 Canadians (pre 1982), and a 1959 Black Beauty.
