2009-P roll find!! Only my SECOND one EVER and that's after 75 plus boxes! Compare that to finding ONE each of the key dates after 75 boxes: 38-S, 39-D, 50-D.

Sorted 5 rolls today and found a 29 Buffalo (first ever Buffalo found) and a 43P War Nickel ... don't often sort nickels, but that was really awesome for so few coins sorted!

The last 10 boxes or so have been like the late 1890's out west...no buffalos to be found!
Today's box yielded:

Box 88. the streak without silver continues ... I wonder if people are done cashing in their change from the Great Recession ...
found 2 2009P's.
Also found 3 pre-1982 Canadian Nickels. I now have a whole roll of the pre-1982 Canadian nickels (100% Nickel). What do I do with a roll of nickel nickels?
didn't find much else in box 88.

I've actually done it, guys. I have managed to find a 1913S T2 before finding a 1950D. I looked through $60 of machine wrapped nickels today and came out with zero older Jeffersons, but 2 buffalos: a 1926, and a dateless. This dateless buffalo was an ugly one: brown color, scratched, and pitted. A drop of nic-a-date on both the date and mintmark area revealed the year 1913, and a barely discernable S. So there it is. It's not pretty by any means, but I'm that much closer to completing a set of buffalos from roll searching. (who am I kidding that's not going to happen)

Just finished up a box of nickels. Found 230 pre-1982 99.9% nickels, which is around the most I have ever found in a single box. Also found a 1940 and a 1941 King George VI nickels, four 12-sided nickels, a 1945 Victory Nickel, and 6 dimes.

There's no way I'd be able to take a picture good enough to see the date, much less the barely visible mintmark on my 1913S.
Only thing I have to take pictures with is my iPod Nano.

canadacoinhunting: is it legal in canada to melt those old Nickel nickels? Do people hoard them like they hoard the pre 1982 copper cents here?
I just got my first full roll of these older canadian nickels - but have no clue what to do with them.
