Had my best nickel box yet this weekend. Ended up finding 8 King George V nickels from 1922, 1924x2, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1932, and 1935. Also, had 18 pre-1963 Canadian nickels, including King George VI nickels from 1940 and 1941, and a 1939 American nickel. Really happy with the finds this week!

Normally I search dimes and pennies but after reading a few pages of the nickel thread I stopped at the bank on my lunch break and picked up a box. I'm crossing my fingers for a buffalo or a V! of course, looking for old or silver jeffersons as well.

good luck finding a V nickel, 84 boxes and I haven't found one yet. Most likely you will get a buffalo or a War Nickel though.

The oldest canadian I have found was a 1972. I'd love to get an older one. Like I stated in a previous post one time, I get more War Nickels than any date canadians.

For my last 500 nickel rolls my find rate for the years 1938 - 1939 reagrdless of mint:

I must search 38.5 rolls for one 1938 - 1939
62.5 rolls for one War Nickel
6.25 rolls for one 1940 - 1949 excluding War Nickels
3.5 rolls for one 1950 - 1959

Overall I find one 1938 - 1959 for every two rolls I search

I meant to add to my previous post:

Out of those 500 rolls I found all but 12 of the coins for the 1938 - 1959 time period

lets see pics of the clipped (incomplete) planchet! you can usually tell if it is real by the shape and the shape of the edge around the clip.

murrellington I would say it is a clipped, the opposite side is matching the description for clipped with the mashed border look. Nice find!

On one hand, the edge that abuts the clip are what I was looking for. but on the other hand, I don't believe the opposite side should look damaged like that - can you post this in the modern error section?
