I did most of a box of Nicks last night. Was pretty good. The last 3 boxes have started off incredible. I'm not sure but I think all three boxes have produced 2 War Nickels in the first few rolls and then no more war nicks. Make not mistake...I'm not complaining. Its been nice to consistently find a little silver. I also found a really nice 1940 D. I think it had 4 steps!

OO

a little venting here: I really hate it when people wrap their coins while smoking. Disgusting to search through those.

I hear ya rachums. Next week I have finals and I will be able to search again. Not much free time going to school and working.

And that sounds gross robbudo. Good thing I search boxes. I got CWR dimes once and they were all full of cat hair. Of course I am allergic so that was horrible.

cat hair sounds pretty bad too. I usually stick to boxes, but opened up an acct at a new bank where ONE branch has an automatic free coin counter. All their other branches are small and I get $40 or $60 of rolls a pop. expanding up my searching a little for the summer!

This thread inspired me to get my first box. I've occasionally picked up ten rolls at a time over the last year, but this was my first box.

Found one War Nickel, a 2001 20 pence, and one 2009. (Just one!)

A 1938, 1946, 1955, and a couple each 57D and 58D. Found 3 S mints 68-70.

Found a 2005 D (Ocean View) missing most of the date. It didn't look damaged, but might have had the date etched off.

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

Found a two headed nickel (82 and 88). Why anyone would go through all that work for a feable gag and then just put it circulation is beyond me.

Also about 15 nicely toned nickels from various years.

Great way to spend a rainy day.

bigapplebucky: that 2005 is an 'obverse struck through debris/grease'. not worth more than fifty cents, but worth saving.

Got a CWR marked '1963-P'. It was fully of Uncirculated 1963 nickels. I have no clue what to do with them - suggestions?

the bank said they had $100 of nickels and that they could give me half of them. This was the only interesting roll in the $50 I searched ... I wonder what is in the other $50? They were very clear that I couldn't have them, so I don't feel like I can go back and ask for them.

bigapplebucky: . In '68, there were actually more S mintmark nickels than D - not sure they are worth saving.
