With our latest key nickel find, I thought I'd update my list of our hardest to find nickels: Non Silver 1950d (0) 1939d (5) 1938s (2) 1938d (3) 1939s (5) Silver 1942S (4) 1943D (1) 1944D (6) 1944S (5) We have at least 10 of all other Jefferson nickels.

I've yet to find one of the keys. Still looking - planning to do another box next week.

Finding keys and semi-keys is all about looking through a lot of coins, being in the right place at the right time and persistence

Searched $30 in nickels today but I got skunked. It's been a long time since I've gotten nothing when searching nickels.

Took me something like 202 boxes of nickels to complete my collection from circulation... ha.
Picked up two boxes today for old times sake, both were sold 2013... bah.

Well, what do you know. Thirteen rolls into my box and I got a 1928 Buffalo. I'll have pics up after the weekend.

Hey everyone... Still doing 4 boxes of nickels daily.... everything is hitting right around average with some hot streaks and cold streaks in there as well.... finding a little over 1 silver per box and at least 1 2009d per box.... pulled my second 1950d yesterday.... tons of goofballs and pre 56's.... found a 1890 V nickel a few buffalo's dateless and dated, the best being a 1919s in VG condition.... one of these days i'll have to post up my actual results log so eveyone can see it.... I am coming into a quarter million nickels searched, I expect it to happen before the end of this month... Still working at the coin shop drawing in a ton of buyers for morgans and Peace dollars.... I got a raise(kinda) Now instead of selling 8 morgans to get one for free I sell 6 and get one free, woohoo lol As always if anyone is looking for morgans Peace dollars silver gold platinum or any other precious metal or collectible coins send me a message and I'll see what I can do.... Happy hunting everyone :)

My son and I have done 300 plus boxes easily. We have never found a 1950d and only one 1943D.

I think its cause I am in Denver.... after reading your post JonNickelCollector I checked my D silver nickels(which are the ones I have the least of) and I have 2 1943 d nickels..... I find a lot of the rarer d nickels.... I have 29 1942d type 1 nickels and like I said I always find at least 1 2009d, my best box for 2009d was 12.... maybe since I am so close to the Denver mint the odds go way up on finding Denver mint coins.

Did $30 at my usual bank (not the one I got the '44-S) and got skunked again. 9 of the 15 rolls were nearly solid 2012-D's.
Gonna go to the other bank where I got the '44-S definitely.

Denver,
You may be correct, but ironically, we have an easier time finding most of the S mint nickels than the some of the D mint nickels.

Hooray! Besides my normal finds searching 4 boxes daily I finally found something I have been waiting to find since box one.... A blank nickel planchet, YAY! lol already have 3 blank penny planchets but the nickel blanks are the rarest ones... at least from what I hear(I could be wrong though). And after doing a little research I found out that 5 of the silver nickels I have are peeled planchets and worth far more than just the silver content, DOUBLE YAY!! Have fun searching everyone :)
