I haven't gone through any in a while but I have a few rolls I haven't checked yet so I hope to have some good finds. I haven't seen a nickel as described with no mint mark for a War Nickel. |

I'd like to, but answer a couple of questions for me.
1. How do you guys take pictures of coins and get them to come out well?
2. How do you post pictures into a comment on a thread on this forum?

You may notice a lighting difference. The first and third pictures were taken in one room, and the second and fourth pictures were taken in another room.

BTW, my older son, not my coin collecting younger son, is the one who figured out how to post the pictures.

Jon, my first thought was that your coin was a Henning counterfeit nickel, but those were only dated 1944. It may be Struck Through Grease |

Yeah, I still need to take pictures. Once I do, I will post it up!
Too bad I left it out of the original pic, since all of those are in 2x2 or tubes now. Would have been nice for them all to be together as a good string of boxes.

I take pics using my iPhone through a 10x loupe
I had to scratch my head on posting pics to an existing thread, but realized I could post text and submit it. Then edit my post to upload the pics.
Not sure if that's the best way, but I couldn't figure it out, so that's what I do.
Starting a new thread there is an option to upload.

Just finished the first box of the new year and it was a good one :-)
2 1943p, 1 of which is very nice looking and an upgrade to the album. Also kept 15 nickels with mintages < 100 million.
Still missing:

1939d
1939s
1943d
1943s
1944s
1945d
1947d
1950d
1951d
I am assuming that the 47d and the 51d will be next to arrive, but I will be very happy if that is not the case!

ironically, I just found one too. however, if you hold it in the right light you can BARELY make out the P. I wonder if they were Struck Through Grease? I didn't notice any other indications on mine. Was going to post it at some point. Try posting it over in the modern errors section. you'll likely get more input. |

I looked at my mintmark-less nickel with a microscope with several different filters, and at different angles. There is no evidence of any mintmark ever being there.

That '43 with no mintmark looks a little too sharp to be a Henning, so my guess is a grease error. I believe Henning used the same reverse on all of his nickels, which are characterized by a hole in the bottom of the R in "PLURIBUS".  If your nickel looks like this, you have a good shot at a Henning nickel, which I think is worth a good $30-50 (despite technically being illegal to own). I'm thinking I see a ghost of an S up there. Try inverting the colors of the picture. I found a mintmark-less War Nickel a while ago, but enhancing the contrast and inverting the colors did wonders:   |
