Inching closer John.  CR - oddly foreign coinage has been lower than normal these last few events. But I'll take it; more domestic coinage to hunt. |

I get $20 worth of Nickels every week from my gas station in town. The owner does his weekly bank run and picks them up for me. Today I found a 1945 P War Nickel. First one in about a year. Happy to add this one to my stash. Kevin in CT. |

I guess this is just my opinion, but I don't think CRH is really for me. I picked up another $50 in nickels today, and the only things worth noting are a few pre 1960s, a 1941-S, a lowball D-mint, and a foreign from Bermuda. I think the combination of my cashier jobs, Coinstar often having a lot of change, often with some old coins included, and my activity on Where's George have made me lose interest in coin roll hunting. Plus, the banks I pick up at look at me like I have 2 heads when I make a simple request of 50 dollars in nickels. And the dumping situation probably won't get any easier, since dumping a lot of nickels might raise suspicions on my end. I think from now on, I'll just stick to posting my finds in bank straps and half dollars I manage to get if I can actually get some.

I agree with you, Coincollector110. I have not actively roll hunted in over 15 years. The majority of the change I search comes from my wife or her family out west (they ship me a box of their change once or twice a year). However, I still enjoy reading about the finds here. CRH may be dying, but it is not dead yet.  |

A 43-D and a 38-S in the same batch? That's crazy! 7 38-S's total? Even crazier! Congrats, Jack! Though I did manage 3 39-S's in an 11 day span not too long ago. The past few days have brought me these...   And yes, Rackster... inching closer... my money is on the 45-P as being the next one to knock off... Picked up some nickels today and after I got home and laid the rolls out on the table this one was the only machine rolled I got in $80 worth the teller had in her drawer. Not quite sure if I should leave it be or open it up to see if in fact that they are all 1948d... any suggestions?   |

CoinRumbles, it depends... are the coins Uncirculated or not (I can't tell by the photo)...

Well, did my first box in a year. Was looking sparse until the last ten rolls happened.
One 2008 Mexican Peso, one 2005 Korean 50 Won, one rather nice looking 1939 Jefferson, one 1943-P Jefferson, and one dateless Buffalo.
Will get a pic up tomorrow.

Wow! I wonder how an modern industrial machine wrapped plastic roll could consist of coins with the same old date from the 40s. I see no advantage to leaving it unopened, since it was was recently put together. Open it, and let us know what it is! |

My favorite teller was at my favorite branch, but she hold me they're out of nickels! :( So, I gotta go back either later today or tomorrow...

The roll of 1948D are worth going through to look for DDOs and RPMs and higher grade specimens. The roll looks circulated, so unless you are building rolls by date/mm, you might want to reinvest them for a new roll to search.

Last week I found a 1991 Canadian nickel, only our second ever, so now my son has one for his collection also.
A couple of years ago, I had posted how we could not find the 1967, 1970, or 1991 Canadian nickels. Now we have found two of the 1991's.

I bought half a box at one branch, and half a box at the other... 48 MWRs and 2 CWRs later yielded an AU 40-S, a 41-S (Large S), 2 War Nickels, a 51-S, an Uncirculated 2009-P, and a misalligned die error.
