Quote:Great numbers, John77. I started this year without knowing the key dates, and so I just separated the coins by decade after checking to see if I had them in the coin folder. Only now am I going through each of the early decades to run the numbers, and it will take a while! With my three little kids this year have found two V nickels (1883, 1907) and 31 Buffalo nickels. Maybe we should have a thread where we post photos of our folders to show progress on nickels, cents, etc. That could be fun. Thanks! I kind of just started with looking for 2009's and then just started logging everything I found daily in a notebook once it became clear that there was indeed good stuff left in circulation. Yes, photos of the books would be cool... It's nice being down to two holes! I've got two Dansco albums which include Jefferson nickels, and a couple of coins that I have found out of circulation have managed to displace coins. Namely the CH AU 39-D I found a week and a half ago, and this little gem I found today. Saw the back first, and noticed it looked old, despite being very shiny new... flipped it over and it was a 1938! I'd call it an AU-58 (Slider Unc.)... I also found a 1941-S Large S. Otherwise, it was a very poor day for nickels. Only 7 total in 40 rolls. But I'll take quality over quantity any day of the week!

dadsoncoinhobby, 9 pre-60s in 13 rolls is very good...congrats! The 47-S is always a nice find, and the 58 Philly is always tough.

Quote: I dunno if you noticed this John77, but your latest dateless buffalo is another 1913 type 1, so congrats! I can't believe my luck, CrazyCat! I think I am going to "pickle" both of them over the Labor Day weekend. Quote: That coin really stands out in the photo - it looks like awesome blast white luster! Great find, John77! Thanks, aristarchus123! It really does shine! And it's going straight into one of my two Nickel Dansco albums. I have one which is Nickels 1883-date, and another for my AU/BU Jeffersons... Quote: Tonight I finished a box that I started over the weekend. These were the best: dateless and 1928-P: Buffalos are always cool. I think I've found 16 the past two months, after just 5 the previous 4 months. And jbuck, I will close the month of August with 1 more silver War Nickel to add to the totals... What a month!!

This week's box resulted in 1 War Nickel (45-S), 23 pre-1960's, 5 2009D's and 1 foreign coin (Canada 5 cent).

I searched one box this morning. It contained 1 War Nickel, 2 buffalo's 1937-d and dateless, 4 2009's, and 19 pre 1960 Jeffersons. One was a 1950 plain, at least it filled a hole in my album.

Those 1950 Philly nickels are very tough to find! I've found all of three in my lifetime. Nice box! Congrats!

I had an "off" day yesterday where I only found 9 very common date pre-60s (saved by an AU 2009-P) in 45 rolls. Today, I had another "off" day in terms of quantity, but a much better "quality" day... 35 rolls gave up a 36-D Buff and a 43-P War Nickel amongst 9 more pre-60s.
