Nice find on that 1943-D .... my data demonstrates that is the toughest Jefferson to find CRH.

Thanks, rackster & nickelsearcher. Given its state of preservation, my gut tells me this was probably in someone's collection at some point. The 1943-D I found last year was very worn and grades out at AG-3.
So far through about 350,000 nickels searched in 11-ish months, the 1943-D is my 4th toughest pull as I've only found one each of the 1939-D and 1955 Philly, and I'm still searching for the ever elusive 1950-D of course... at the end of the month I'll be doing my totals for 2016 as well as January of this year.

John77, of the 95,000 nickels I've searched, my one and only 43-D was very worn similar to your first...BUMMER!

As with David, only the one 1943D so far. I found a couple 1950Ds, and even a second 1939D. I suspect since it's silver, the silver hoarders are getting to them ahead of me. And being on the East Coast, Ds and Ss are harder to find.
Very cool on the old Canadian nickels! I found one too, but the date avoids me at the moment.

Usually when I see that sized "S" I expect it to be a 1940 or 1941... was so pleasantly surprised when I flipped it over!  Indeed the "S" mints are easier out here on the West coast. I have now found at least FIVE of every S-minted circulation strike Jefferson nickel now. I have also found every S-minted Buffalo nickel from 1927 through 1937 except for 1929 and 1931. Our three hardest to find Jeffersons are the 1938s, 1943D, and 1950d.

Skib, you're 1927 Canadian nickel is in great condition, nice find! I see you put it in a flip, which is exactly what I did with my 1928 :)
