Well! Holy smokes folks, it happened. Box 3, 2nd half of the box. Saw a worn looking monticello, and a mint mark. It looked like an S as I pulled it closer to my eyes. Once I see this s, I slowly flip it over, making sure to cover up the date. Then I slowly slide my finger away to reveal the date, 1 digit at a time. Of course they all start with 19. But this time, the next digit revealed to be a 3 instead of a 4. It was almost always a 4. This time was a 3. I took a moment, knowing it was a 38 or 39 s, and then revealed the 8!! 269 boxes, 3.5 years, over half a million nickels, I finally completed my set with all finds from the wild. Stood up, paced back and forth a bit mumbling phrases of disbelief. Thanks for the good juju john77! I do believe it is Rackster who says that talking about making a find helps it to happen. Well, here is a good case of that.

I dont think I will completely retire from nickels. However, with the set completed, I will slow down a lot, as that was my main goal. I have to carry my coins back and forth from the banks, and nickels are very heavy. Also, they take the longest time to search. So its just going to have to take a back seat for now. I believe I will focus next on my set of Roosevelt dimes from circulation. I am only missing 4. They weigh a lot less, can be searched quicker, and the set actually stands a chance of being completed. So, I guess it will be a partial nickel retirement, for now.

That sounds well deserved. Coingrats! That was a spelling error, but I'm leaving it. I'm not sorry.

Congratulations skibs! Well done! Your perseverance was rewarded. I do find that I talk to myself quite a bit; that little conversation in my head to get the plan in place. Then, drop a line here and bammo!! Some good juju befalls me! I was looking at a number of 1949D Jeffersons I had set aside to variety hunt. I found 1MM-002...then 1MM-003. I said to myself, a few more to flip. I hope there's a OMM-001 in the bunch. I might have talked myself into it...take a look under the varieties/error thread. Worn...but me thinks I have one!! Welcome to the club and I completely understand the break (slow down). I'm hoping to restart the searching soon but I just need to finish a few more chores.
