I don't know about the rest of the people, but I just put the coins laying down flat in about 1/4 inch of vinegar and then just let it sit...vinegar does tend to evaporate though, so I like to add a little every 3-4 days or so. Based on what I've personally seen, you'll probably get a full date in 3-7 days on that first coin... on the second, it could take 2-3 weeks or more. Rackster Pillar of the Community United States 4809 Posts	Posted 02/11/2017 10:29 pm I use a 50/50 mix of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide in an old pill bottle. You can fit up to 3 nickels in the pill bottle standing them on edge leaning up against the side with buffalos pointed outward. It'll take minutes with this mixture, so you need to stay with your science project. Once the date is revealed, I remove and rinse in the sink. Report this Post to the Staff

I had an event in the morning I was going to which took me 25 miles away from home... so I decided to just make a day of it and hit a bunch of banks on the way back home.... I hit a total of 15 different banks, purchasing 11,160 nickels. I found 94 pre-60s which included one other War Nickel, a discolored 1938-D (my 5th found CRH), a 1949-S, a 1990-D NO FS, and two more 2009-Ps... Big7mag Valued Member United States 177 Posts	Posted 02/13/2017 9:59 pm Today the main find was a 1944 p War Nickel. There were no coins that had a mintage under 40 million. Also found 2 2009 d. Tomorrow I'm going to get a box or 2 of nickels at the bank I've been having luck at the most. Good luck everyone! Report this Post to the Staff

We found 17 pre 1960 nickels and one 1983 Canadian, best one being this guy: Our first dated Buffalo! No War Nickels, but this is plenty for us! Report this Post to the Staff
