jdh New Member United States 31 Posts	Posted 01/09/2010 9:12 pm YUCK!! 50 rolls, and not a single nickel older than 1964. All of the rolls had a "T" written on the outside. Some were obviously customer-wrapped rolls, but many were the blue and white "N. F. String & Son, Inc." rolls. Bummer. I can't wait for Monday to roll around, so that my wife can go to the bank and get me another box! Report this Post to the Staff
hockingzig Pillar of the Community United States 1450 Posts	Posted 01/09/2010 9:54 pm This is unbelievable folks but for the second day in a row I got a customer wrapped roll with six buffaloes,all with dates this time. So, in 2 days from 2 rolls I have gotten 12 buffaloes, 11 with readable dates along with 31 other pre-1960 nickels. I still have a few more rolls from that same bank and teller but acquired today so I hope my luck continues. Dates for the buffaloes included 2- 1920's 3-29's a 30 and the rest were 1936's. lizzyjo Valued Member United States 161 Posts	Posted 01/10/2010 05:35 am I was going to get a box of nickels this weekend, but, alas, I am swamped with homework. This is my first quarter back at school after a year off, and I really do need to concentrate on my studies. Hopefully I'll be able to do a box next weekend. My desk is small, and if I didn't keep it under control, it would be overrun with stacks of coins. Right now you can see my Red Book covering up my chemistry homework, and my laptop screen shows a page on this Coin Community Forum. There is a glass of bourbon and Coke in the center (What?! It's the weekend!), and some plants and stuff on the right. I was really looking to spending a few hours going through nickels this weekend, but I've decided to be fairly responsible and get important things done first. How do you balance important/working/studying time with coin-collecting/roll-searching time? On the plus side, I've found a great coin shop in the area I now live, and I've found a new source of quarters - change machines! Report this Post to the Staff

And with thousands of rolls searched last year none found. lizzyjo, I totally understand your dilemma! I have been going through the same thing the last five weeks or so, with moving. I have barely even looked at coins or CCF during that time. And, most of my setup is still packed, as I moved in with my girlfriend, and we are still trying to figure out where my desk and the rest of my setup is going to go! Until then, I am using her computer desk, and I have about a tenth of the space I had before. Sometimes there are priorities that have to put coins in the back seat! jkc32, There is a 32 page book called "The Counterfeit 1944 Jefferson nickel" by Dwight Stuckey that tells the fascinating story of Francis Leroy Henning and his scheme to counterfeit common circulating nickels. Problem is this book (pamphlet?) was first published in 1982, and it is LONG out of print, and almost impossible to find. I found my copy through the Interlibrary Loan System at my local library. There were only three copies found in any library in the country. I expected to be able to borrow it, but was pleasantly surprised when an Adobe copy of it was emailed to me! Of course I printed this, and now I have a copy! I was charged $15 by my library, and it was very much worth every penny. A few early dates.....but no Buff or Wartimers or anything else interesting. I think I'm going to make a P & D roll of each Westward Series Nickel though. For future folders I guess. My wife hates me sorting there but its the brightest spot in the house and in front of the TV. And according to my wife, I have no balance in my life when it comes to coins. That's my 3rd buffalo in the last 4 boxes. Two dateless and a 1930. Crazy thing is that follows about 10+ boxes with no buffalos. So goes the streaks of CRH. Report this Post to the Staff
