i went to a CHASE branch where all the tellers joyously told me they collect silver... i was pretty bummed that this branch will be a skunk for me. but after the conversation, I asked if they had any. they honestly told me that they had looked through all the coins.. one denomination they didnt look through was nickels.. she pulled a 42-p and wore it was silver. I felt pretty smart telling her it needed to have a mint mark on the reverse above the dome.. as I sit her and think about it, I regret telling her.. I should of let her think it was..LOL anyway, I took home about $100 in CRW and there were 4 rolls machined wrapped but looked older.. i was skunked on all the customer rolls, but scored on the 4 MWR i should of just taken the 4... the newest coin in those rolls was 1993-D! i made some nice upgrades and also scored an AU/BU 1943-S~~!!even has a few steps! but has some corrosion or something on the rev. i think its cool to think those machine rolls were sitting unopened for almost 30 years. AND getting a silver in there too!!

SDcoinguy, nice finds! You got kinda lucky on the MRR's. Although, that's a huge bummer that the tellers at that CHASE bank collects Silver though. I would abandon that bank and only use it as a dump bank.

1962penny,
Before you do anything to that beautiful 1938d, what is the substance on the back? If it is tar like, try something mild like rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone first. Then wash with soap and water to get off any residue. I have used those to clean tar off coins before.

Just completed searching my 100th box of nickels. I've been searching about a box a week over the last two years. This latest box yielded: 18 pre-1960 1 1982-S proof 2 Canadian 1 1936 Wheat cent 1 1977 Kenya 50 cent I thought I would also post my latest statistics for the 100 boxes to give other CRH'ers an idea of what I've been finding. Still missing 3 to complete my set: 1939D, 1943D, and 1944S. Happy hunting.

tnt, nice finds and statistics! I have a similar spreadsheet too, and I am at 98 boxes searched (roughly). I should have a similar update in a few weeks!

What stands out to me with tnt's stats is they find 3 times as many foreign coins as key dates.
What are considered the keys in this instance?
