Won this coin at the annual coin club Christmas party. I believe that this is a variety 3 "three broken letters" with the less common, reverse of the 1868, the star at 12:00 is pointing to the "S" in States. I am also seeing what I believe to be a repunched date, would someone please help me confirm any of this? Thank You!

Thank you, I never found a U.S. coin with re-punched date, really excited about this find. Whoever put this coin in the items to be raffled off, had no idea what this coin was, it was labeled 5 cents - G/VG. There are over 70 members of our club and unfortunately, I am the only variety and error collector in the group.

Shouldn't this have be written as, ".... and fortunately, I am the only variety and error collector in the group."

Thanks and honestly it was one of two coins left in the case, they drew my number and I picked it not knowing what it was until I got home. Your right ExoGuy, I guess it is good to be the only one collecting these but at the same time, no one else can really relate, so no chance to show off my finds, it is like they could care less. All I have is my online family to help me enjoy the moment, many thanks for helping me confirm my interesting find.

A very nice RPD. Catalogs as S2-3005 and probably F-104.

Good as this info is to know, it occurs to me that something gets lost in the translation, so to speak. The F-104 could be a fighter jet.

For example, my avatar is a P-573 ....
