I was at my LCS today and my buddy asked me why I was picking up some canadian large cents. I had mentioned I'm working on a collection of these, but don't actually own a book. He went into the vault and pulled out one of these books, just slightly more worn. He thought it was empty, but turns out it was at least 35% complete or more. He told me he'd put my name on it, without asking me, haha. I said sure, as I do need it, but I don't like those style of dansco-whitman style albums. I don't know if they are the greatest for coin storage after they've been used. Seems like they just have a potential for book toning if I put them in there for too long.

So I read this book has been out of print since 1960...does Dansco make any 1858-1920 Canadian LC books? Anyone have any suggestions to finding some? I'd like books with the pvc free plastic windows, so you can see both sides of the coins. I'm just concerned that these older whitman LC books contain PVC in the plastic or what not.

Apparently Dansco does not produce any Canadian albums currently except the one for Maple Leafs. I don't see any on ebay for large cents either. Bah humbug!

A company called Gardmaster makes an album you might like. I bought my large cent album from Gatewest in Winnipeg. There could be a U.S. distributor. It covers 1858-1920 and cost me $13.60 Canadian (less than $10 U.S.) plus shipping.
I do not have a picture of it but see below the silver dollar album from the same company.

Punman - those sleeves are not PVC free. I've seen coins in books like so that have had terrible, if not permanent PVC damage and corrosion from being in those books.

Maybe I should start a business similar to Whitman. There's a lot of books that need remaking.

The current version of Guardmaster albums do not have pages made from PVC. If you buy it new it should be okay.

I've been using Gardmaster Albums for my Canadian Cents for some time now. Completely different method of how an Album is made and used. A bit of a problem putting coins in since you have to take a slide completely out. And the coins sit in a pocket where they can move. Yet really nice presentation.
