After going through $50 worth of pennies this 2012 P stood out to me because the letters in liberty looked sort of plump. There is no distinguished step down effect, but there is also no clear separation of the letter ends. Can anyone tell me if this looks like a true doubled die variety or if it looks mechanical. It's my first time using my microscope camera, I hope the picture is clear enough.

You MIGHT have something here. The first 5 letters I can see clear split serifs. Lets wait until someone else chimes in.

to CCF. Looks like it could be a DDO. Not on CC's site though. The left arm of the Y looks thick also. John1

Does the date appear to have any doubling ? Hard to really tell from your pic whether the Y has a stronger left arm than the right arm. You can try to match it to the examples listed on Coppercoins.

There is a bit of glare on the left side of the bases of the devices. That may make it look like something is there, when there isn't hub doubling there.

to CCF! Looks interesting! Is there any way to get a photo without the glare and in a bit better focus?

Thanks for your comments. Here are a few more pictures with less glare. The rest of the coin, including the date do not appear to have any doubling on it. I couldn't find any reference on the net concerning 2012 DDO finds.

I still think it looks interesting. Now the photos are darker - which really doesn't help, and there is still glare in the wrong places. Focus needs to be better, too. If you really want to follow up on this, you might send it to John Wexler. If you are able to produce improved photos, though, post them here first. I am thinking the jury is still out. I only suggest John Wexler if better photos are not forthcoming first. http://doubleddie.com/402401.html

With the new pics, the letters look wider then normal like a DDO would produce. In my non pro opinion. John1
