This penny came out of a box of Uncirculated rolls so it is shinny and hard (for me at least) to get good pictures. I found about 15 in the roll that look like they are from the same die. Various stages of the Die Deterioration. I have two more rolls to search and hopefully find one where the die failed. Is it possible to have this many pennies from the same die in one roll or would it be different dies with the same problem ? Is this an IDB or just die cracks or neither one. Looks kind of like a U on the back of his head ? Please let me know what you all think ?

It is called a retained interior die break. The die was about to fall apart. The raised areas are formed where the cracks in the die were, and the metal from the planchet flowed into during the strike. Here is a photo of a circulated one I found about a year ago.It is not unusual to find multiple coins with the same error or variety in the same uncirculated roll. You have to understand that the roll was done at a bank from bags they received from the mint. So coins that were made at the same time would end up in the same bags at the same bank and then rolled together. I found about 40 examples of the same RPM in 20 uncirculate rolls of 1959 D cents. So I guess I got lucky and had 20 rolls that were all from the same mint bag.

Yes, I didn't see it listed as a IDB or as a RIDB.
