Hi,
I use a USB microscope for pics and in order to get the whole coin in the photo I need to set it on top of a little box. I use the box the microscope came in, angle the scope out and move the coin until it shows up the way I want it to on the computer screen. It takes a bit of effort to adjust it to get it right -- I have MS so my hands don't always cooperate.
Just make sure that the base of the scope is stable so it doesn't fall onto the coin. I set the coin on a bit of cardboard and slide that around so as not to touch the coin too much and it keeps my hand from getting between the scope and coin which generally means I'm going to knock the scope over or at least move it.
Hope that helps.
