What are your opinions on the grade of this coin and the cause of the stange black patina?

Appears EF-45, detailed for corrosion. This coin likely IS a ground find. I've found plenty of them myself and this solid black is often what you see after a water rinse. This 'perfect' dark patination is most often found in an area that has considerable salt, as in near (but not from) the ocean.
