I found this recently with other old coins. Admittedly I know nothing about old coins. I have researched several hours and have found nothing like this. Is it an error coin or post mint damage? I would appreciate any thoughts on this Buffalo nickel. Also is it a no date nickel or has it been rubbed off. Appreciate your expertise! Thanks

Looks like a lump of solder on the reverse. I say PSD.

As for the date, it was worn off. The Buffalo nickel series is notorious for losing their dates over time spent in circulation, due to the higher relief of the date.

It was most likely removed from a cufflink, tietack, or other type of jewelry mount.
Rest in Peace

My first thought was that it had been made into a button at one time. A lot of coins get made into jewelry.

Agree with the others... someone used this coin in some kind of jewelry.
