Broken die resulting in Cud?

Here's a link with a foreign coin that looks kind of similar: http://dniewcollectors.blogspot.ca/...vs-blob.html

If the die was broken it would have a much weaker strike on the direct opposite side of the coin, as the metal is flowing away from it to fill the broken part of the die.
It's difficult from the pictures, and while it does look like a lamination error, it's unusual that it has occured on both sides. This makes me think someone has squeezed it in a vice or something similar.

After some deliberation, I would say PMD.
Lamination errors will also leave remnants of the legend even once they have come off completely, but on this you can see that the top of the 'L' in 'LIBERTY' has been flattened.

John - is there a difference between PMD and PSD? Or are we just calling the same thing different names?

Pretty much interchangeable.PST is still in the mint. PMD is once it leaves the mint, I think. Coop is the member that can tell you more.

I did a quick google and yes they're interchangable and have the same meaning. Being that PMD and PSD is purposeful damage done by a person, however it doesn't apply to the location of the coin. Regardless of if it's inside the mint or not, if someone purposefully damages a coin it is both PSD and PMD.

PSD. Note the outside edge is not round? With the reeds present, it would have to have been altered to make it look like that.
