I've noticed a lot of people ask the community to unofficially grade their coins, so I figured I'd throw what's likely the best coin I own into the ring. What grade would you guys give my Morgan 1921? I'm honestly not experienced in the grading business so I won't even attempt to give my own grading. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

You can buy a 1921 Morgan in MS65 for less than $175. You can get one in MS64 for about $70. Why buy one in VF35? Buy the CC's or the rare Morgans in VF. It seems to me if you buy the common ones in just VF condition you are doing it backwards.

Terry I think you missed the point. He's putting his best coin up for opinions not asking what to buy but that was good advise nonetheless There is minimal wear and still a faint hint of luster plus the hair curl is still defined so I'm at xf40/45 on your coin.

Well, Terry, I got this as inheritance from one of my relatives who gave it to my mother who then gave it to me. I didn't buy it and it holds sentimental value to me since the relative who gave it to us is now deceased. Furthermore, I think it's got character and I don't have a stable income so I can't go shelling out $175 for a shiny fresh out of the mint-looking one. I appreciate your advice though.

IMO Coin is a weakly struck XF. Don't clean it.

EF-45, same grade range I stayed with for the 1921-P-D and S Pittman dollars.

CrusaderVW , as long as it has sentimental value to you ,that's all that matters. Just keep handing it down to kids, grandkids, etc.

I agree, I'm more of a sentimental person when it comes to coins and I almost never sell them to begin with so monetary worth isn't as important to me as it is to other collectors. I usually only plan on selling coins if I've got more than one of the same.
