I like the Canadian specimen strikes as well as other commonwealth specimen strikes. They sure look nice on those big nickel dollars.

More varieties in the PL strikes, it really depends what catches your fancy...

The proof series is also very short (1981-1987), and eye-catching...

SPP, I know nothing about Nickel proof dollars.
But, I see they are listed in more dates than 1981-1987?
Just wondering what you mean.

1981 was the first year for "proof" dollars. The Double Dollar sets included the Proof Silver and the Proof Nickel dollars after 1987 the Proof Silver dollars continued but the Proof Nickel dollars were replaced with the Proof Loonie

Between 1971 and prior to proof sets in 1981 nickel dollars were available in what was referred to as Specimen sets (or sometimes Double Dollar or Prestige Sets) and also singularly in cases (1968-76). Sources to collect nickel dollars definitely are somewhat of a hodge-podge because collector demand was greatest for the Silver Dollar that was discontinued from circulation in 1967.

Yes the Proof 1981-1987 Nickel dollars were Voyageur dollars while the Silver version were Commemoratives
