Quote: The mint has Canada divided into about 5 district and say the Toronto area the TD has enough loonies or in this case quarters being rolled and recirculated there is no need for such denomination until there is a shortage and a call to Winnipeg to order 25 cents, they have like a 20 acre building full of Canadian coins sometimes a few years old. The banks are charged a delivery cost which they wish to avoid and that's why most banks just have old coins. if anyone get's a chance to visit the Winnipeg mint it's a great tour. In general, that was well put. The Winnipeg mint tour USED to be great, but it's tiny now (I believe that 1/2 of the tour route was closed because the plating process is on the north side of where the tour used to be - and that is a RCM secret); Also the tour guide who I last had was actually spouting half truths and/or speculation (last time was so that my wife could see it; I've been on the tour MANY times in years bygone).

No mention whatsoever about it on their website yet. You might try contacting them directly, they might give you more information. Something to look forward to!

If you ever end up in my back yard please make sure you drop me a line... would be happy to tell you a bunch of neat places to go and hear what you thought over a beer or a beverage.

I see there are some coin exchanges scheduled at the mint locations. The exchanges are to honour something, 100 years later. Likey this loonie. Could be a chance to get collector cards.
Ottawa - March 11, 12 and 13 Winnipeg - March 18 and 19 Vancouver - March 18, 19 and 20 All during regular business hours.
Not sure is these loonies will be there but if not I'm sure they'll have something. The mint will be showcasing 100 years of history with a feature exhibit at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) conference in Toronto, from March 6-9, 2016 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Booth #6801N, Trade Show North

".....A more accurate "historically commemorative" recognition of female suffrage in Canada would require the Mint to issue a boxed set of at least a dozen coins reflecting vast discrepancies, provincially and federally, in who received the vote and when......" http://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/...table-truth/Interesting article in Macleans. In 1916 it was woman in the 4 Western provinces who were given the right to vote, provincial elections only.

Today apparently is International Woman's Day. I had a hunch that might coincide with this release. In case any of you are wondering, this year International Men's Day is November 19th. Maybe you might get a special coin too, just so it's equal?

Ordered, but I so dislike the 1 per household. Makes it hard when both kids want this for their collections.

If anyone makes it to a coin exchange, is there a collector card available?
