Once again the U.S.Mint has messed up their website. It says under "new products" that the Jamestown Anniversary Program will begin selling this coin on Jan. 28th or something......... Obviously NOT correct....... it won't be for sale "ever" again.....right ?
But regardless of that, I noticed on ebay that this proof gold coin is selling for $203.00 (a few hrs. left) AND IT COSTS $255.00 plus shipping & handling to get it when it was on sale.
Now gold has gone up to what, $900.00 an ounce from then when it was $790.00 at the time the coin went on sale ?
This doesn't make sense to me.....and besides, who would sell it THAT much cheaper than what they paid for it ? What if gold climbs to $1,745.00 an ounce and never looks back........in our lifetime ?
I know it's a roller coaster ride and a gamble........but sheeeeesh ! Selling it for $200.00 when you paid $255.00 ? That doesn't seem to be a brilliant move.......
ANYBODY ELSE'S THOUGHTS ON THIS ? (same thing gonna happen to similar modern coins ?) Buffalo, Eagle, etc. etc

The "few hours left" part explains it all- most bidding is done in the last few minutes of the auction so if you look at the price now, chances are the price will be much higher when it closes. As long as the seller has good pics, a good rep, and a quality product, you will almost never see anything go below melt or issue price.

Even though I've never had anything whatsoever to do with ebay, I should have known that ! Zero experience or not........ can you say "IDIOT" ?
Well......still the part about the Mint having those coins for sale when they actually DON'T have them for sale........is funny and annoying ......right ?
Ahhhhh welllll.........Think "before" you post Eaglefoot........."before"....... crap!
I guess I'm bored !

Eagle - ebay charges a listing fee when a seller puts an item up for auction. The listing fee is as little as $.20 if you start the bidding at $.99 or less. The listing fees is several dollars if you start the bidding at several hundred dollars. Experienced eBayers know that (for certain items, gold coins being one of them) they will end up with the same closing price regardless of what they start the bidding at. There is very little downside risk to starting this listing at $.99, but to start it at a few hundred dollars would cost quite a bit to list.

This coin will be bid up in the last hour, then it will probably get numerous bids in the last 30 seconds if the price is still below melt value.
