Picked this up this morning. Nothing remarkable except for its being found in such an unlikely venue.

So far as I can tell, it's a Gallienus, showing Sol on the reverse with the legend ORIENS AVG. About 19x16 mm. If anybody can further nail the identification down (or correct mine as necessary), by all means feel free to do so.

Nice find, I never found any ancients at yard sales. It is a Gallienus.

I once was at a garage sale where the owner had a sheet of 2x2's with some of the worst looking LRB's I have ever seen. Small module, stripped to a bright copper, rough surfaces, only identifiable as to being a campgate, soldiers and standard, etc. The kind of coins that would be left behind in a $1 junk box. He wanted $27.50 each as that is what he paid. I like yours better.

That's a pretty fun find. I never find anything except Christmas decorations and old books at yard sales.

Funny you should say that. The very next yard sale I stopped at, I ran across this book in like new condition. Looks like it'll serve as a good source of background material for both my past and future Roman coin acquisitions.
