Which 1972 Cent DDO Is It?

There are at least 9 different DDO errors for this year/cent.


I can see clearly the dd in the date and some of the In God We Trust. But I have no idea how to distinguish what DDO this one is.

Please tell me how I can differentiate between the different DDO errors for the 1972.

sorry, but we are gonna need some closer pics, and without the glare on the coin. theres a photography thread where you can read up on how to take good pics or ask for help there. if you want to try to identify it yourself coppercoins.com should be able to help

to be able to help - in addition to clearer/closer images. - the DDO's are not errors, they are varieties.

in order to identify which variety you have - examine them very closely, to maatch the spread, and direction, of the doubling. you can also try to match addition "die markers" from sites like coppercoins.com

the 72's have been documetned to such detail that you sould be able to be quite certain which one you have.

If it is a master die doubled example, it is worth copper melt as a large percentage from all three mints have this type of doubling. Here is what to look for on the master die doubling:

Note the arrows. That will show you what to look for on these common doubled dies.
