Is there anyone here that will admit to having ex jewelry (or as I would say jewellery) coins in their collections?

I recently picked up this 1917 S type 2 Standing Liberty quarter which I rather like even with the mounting marks on the reverse.

Anyone else brave enough to post up their favourites?

Not really 'favourites' but I inherited these that both started life as 1927 Australian Florins. The top one was a brooch and the bottom one was a pendant. Just different views of the 2 pieces.

Those must have taken hours to produce, such a lot of work involved.

I have a 1879 Chilien Peso that used to be in a broach. Gorgeous purple toned coin but the repair job is clearly evident. It's special to me though because a very elderly man from my old coin club gave it too me because he knew I liked coins with animals on them and this coin has a vulture/condor on it. I was probably 19 at the time he gave it to me. I can't recall if I ever did know his name.

er yes...I try to stay away from coins with holes, though with Spanish cobs they're pretty common.

This however is my prize specimen

For whatever reason someone took a French 5F and separated the portrait of Charles X, then raised it off the coin surface and mounted it to make a pinback.

I haven't found any occasion to wear it, nor can I imagine one. But it's nice to have around just in case.

I have this coin - it is an 1852-D (Dahlonega, Georgia) half eagle. This was mounted in a ring bezel for a necklace. Fortunately the bezel only made two little nicks on the rim. The coin graded problem free by PCGS at XF-45.

This Dahlonega-mint quarter eagle had a mount removed from the edge. It was slabbed and sold to me in an NNC holder as problem-free. The seller and I negotiated an adjusted price that was I think fair for both of us. PCGS later confirmed authenticity and slabbed it in a Details holder.

Yes, sadly I got lots of ex-jewelry coins, both mounted pieces and lots of drilled pieces. One of the drilled coins happened to be a former high grade (AU maybe) Barber dime, I'll try to get pics when I get home.

This thread inspired me to pick up an 1867-s quarter eagle.

Hope it's real wear and not plating over brass. I'll find out when it's out of the bezel.
