Yes, all those extrusions on the edge, most easily seen from the obverse photo from 3-5 o'clock is disconcerting. I'd check the edge of this immediately upon receipt to insure there is no 'line' around the two halves on the edge.
The edges look like the copper was extruded and folded over. This is something that just doesn't happen in a normal minting process nor is it something caused by corrosion. Only other possible explanations might be that the collar broke in multiple places or it is a cast counterfeit. Whatever the cause it is NOT normal.
