I read a post about someone's camera getting fried by an AC adapter that may have malfunctioned. It can happen and perhaps buying a name brand vs. a generic adapter may help prevent this.

But for years I used a battery grip on one of my old SLR's and with the cheap cost of AA batteries it provides one with a solution to a dead rechargable battery while in the field if you don't have extra rechargable batt's.

Anyone use a grip on their Canon EOS? The runtimes should be better than a rechargable batt. Prices vary depending on brand but they are pretty cheap.

I have a grip for my T2i and my XS. I don't use them much, but they do work well. The ones I have hold two LiIons so last twice as long as normal.

The Nikon camera that fried when my Chinese AC adapter failed forced me to move up in quality and aided in advancing my coin photography skills, so I am not complaining too much, but I'd be upset if my T2i got fried.
