After my Syracuse Dilitron, the tetradrachm of Ptolemy II which I had bought as well arrived! It feels great after earlier purchases of tetradrachms, one from the Ptolemaic dynasty was missing. Ruler: Ptolemy II 285 - 246 B.C. State, City: Ptolemaic , Alexandria Coin: silver Tetradrachm - Diademed bust right - Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, head left, wings closed, monogram (serif Sigma) over shield in left field, I between legs. Mint: (277 BC, year 9 (I)) Wt./Size/Axis: 13.42g / 28mm / 12h References: Svoronos 574, SNG Cop 109 I now have the following coins: 1. Alexander the Great Tetradrachm 2. Philip Philadelphos Tetradrachm(Seleudid) 3. Lysimachus Tetradrachm 4. Ptolemy II So everybody knows which tetradrachm is still missing: one from the successors of Alexander, the Kingdom of Macedon.

A prime example of the type, Dutch, with some interesting countermarks too. I'm glad the description clarifies that it's a letter "I" between the eagle's legs!

Decent example with some very well placed countermarks. Nothing on the face. Your list gives good coverage, and it might be interesting to see your whole group. Do you have a candidate for the post-Alexandrine Kingdom of Macedon?
However, there is one other tet you might consider adding to the list, and that is a Tyrian Tetradrachm, aka Shekel of Tyre. It doesn't quite fall into the other categories, nor is it as early as the earliest members of the group, so maybe not. But given the merchantile travels of the Phoenicians and their progeny it definitely holds a place among the historically significant tetradrachmae.

Very nice coin Dutch. Lots of counter marks which adds to it's appeal. Congrats on another nice addition to your collection.

And I thought I had put you on the one 'true' path. First century bronze !
Oh well ....... You know I am just teasing you Nice coin !
(I still think old Ptolemy looks better in 60 grams of bronze !)

Excellent group of tets Dutch. I have all except the Lysimachus. I've been wanting to get a First Meris for several years but haven't been able to afford it.

Thanks Ron, a First Meris is a desireable coin though expensive.
