Looking at the coin again, it's very close to being mint state if not for a bunch of chatter, nice key date coin though, love the reverse, great looking wheat stalks.

Agree 58, even though the obverse is kind of weak. Nice coin!

Apparently I'm just not seeing the circ rub that is getting everyone to give this a 58. Looks fully MS to me, and I'd guess 63 Red, although the obverse does have a pretty light strike.

I'm not understanding the AU grades here...my first instinct was MS-62-63. Very nice looking coin!

Changing my mind. Agree the red surfaces alone would merit at least a 63, even though I don't care for the strike.

On second look, I think the toning and plastic are making things look a little odd. It's a little hard to read the luster. 64RB - even if PCGS says differently. These 09-S's can have some weak obverses. Here's mine that most everyone on the forums (before I had it slabbed) called AU. I think it's worthy of a CAC bean. It's the nicest "62" I've ever seen:

PCGS grades it MS63RB. I have looked at a fair number of these and this one is close to a Red and close to a 64 in my opinion. A lot of 09-S's seem to have a little woody action going on and this one has a bit of that which shows up in my original pictures looking like a little "noise". Here's a shot of the slab trying to capture the luster and look of the coin; one of these days I am going to need to get a permanent lighting setup done. Thanks everyone for their input!
