Got this guy in a lot of coins off ebay for $1... The seller claimed that he was not a coin dealer and knew nothing about coins. I found 10, yeah, 10, V nickels, 3 early buffs (teens), ten or so wheat cents which includeds several RPMs. Anyways, I was delighted to see this coin! I also found an acid dated 1888 V nickel, which is cool. Anyways, what would be the value on a coin like this?

Great buys. Usually acid buffs are only used as hole fillers until a collector can afford better. Even scarce dates rarely sell for more than a buck or three.

Couple of bucks maybe? The only acid date you are really going to get a premium for is the 13-s T2. All the other keys typically go for less than 10 and more often less than 5 bucks.

$0.10 maybe $0.25 since it's a more desirable date. Acid treated buffalo's really aren't worth all that much unless they are a 13ST2, 14/3, 14D (and that depends, I've seen 14D's struggle selling for a dollar), 18/17D, 21S (these seem to do pretty decent, I've seen some up to $10 depending), & 26S (couple bucks).

16 DDO too. But you don't have to use acid to see a DDO.
