Unfortunately it is a fake.

Mushy bust, missing denticles, wrong font for the date, just to begin with.

Fake. The bust is too small and overall details are wrong especially the obverse. An easy way to tell apart yours is to look at the rim - real ones don't have that kind of raised rim but the denticles extend all the way to the edge of the coin.

I agree this is a very common fake coin.

FYI - this is a great site, where I hope you can get a lot of good information.

I wanted to mention that the site is set with different sections, for different
types of coins. Normally coins like this would be posted in the classic section.

Definitely fake.

Look up a 1797 dollar and see how different they are.
