I like the way it has gone "over to the dark side"; it's beautiful and menacing at the same time. Not a scratch on it despite these 46 years since striking. Amazing!

I use an ancient Sony A100, their first DSLR , M42 extention tubes and bellowes. A 105mm enlarging lens mounted backwards for full coin shots and a 75mm enlarging lens mounted backwards with all the tubes and bellowes I have behind it for closeups.

Pretty cool coin, and I think I was able to score one of these cheaply last night. It was tough to tell from the images, but I think I got a good enough look at it. Even if it turns out to be bunk, a BU '70 quarter for something like $1.45 isn't bad :)

Beautiful Coin. Still looking for my first Type H and wondering how many may have slipped through my fingers in the 70s and 80s.

Big time congrats.

Is the spacing on the E S part of the attribution on this reverse?
(A Proof reverse?)

The answer it is no. This it is Type IIb. Has similarities with proof like:

Leaf in front of the arrows tips, EPU lettering it is proof quality and overal the coin Reverse is more like proof like, if we discuss about proof qualities.

This design run from 1969 till 1974 and was use also for proofs coins in San Francisco. The design has the origins from the Proof hub from 1956 but with manny adjustments.

Hope explain a little bit about the confusion between strike with proof die or not. This kind of strike was 1956-1964 for Silver coins.
