Hello all

I recently found this in a boc left to me by my mother-in-law. As she originally came from Alexandria I think it may be aaan Egyptian medallion of some kind

Any help would be appreciated

I believe it's Ottoman Turkey, perhaps Mahmud II.

I agree it's Turkey under ottoman rule. Series date 1223 Reignal year 27 = 1249 AH = 1833 AD. Can't see what denomination.
What's its approximate diameter and weight?

Thanks for the quick replies

It is approx 3cm in diameter and weighs 10.5 grams

The metal is brass I think

Does it have any value?

Thanks again

I'm pretty sure that's silver in the coin. If the coin's colour is dull and grey then it is silver. There's a yellow hue to the pictures but I'm oretty sure that's just the light.
I've never seen a belly dancer ornament for 30 mm but that probably exists. Those replicas typically have cruder details unlike your coin. For instance, I can make out the date clearly. Some ornaments don't even have dates.
30 mm and 10.5 grams sounds like a fairly thin coin, pretty common for the era.
The drill hole in it plays an important role in value (negatively), and on top of that the coin is worn (indication it could be silver). Sadly, I don't think it is worth any hefty sums of money, but if it is indeed silver then it's worth at least its silver value which I believe to be about 15 ILS.

Thank you all very much

Petrus
It is just like the pictures and based on the weight it could be the 6 kurush

The colour around the holes is a silver grey but the rest looks a yellowy grey

No commercial value but plenty of sentimental value

Thanks again
